Jessica Garcia, Psy.D. ABD, M.A. (she/her)

Psychotherapist

Jessica is a clinician who has been working in the field with 15 years of experience, is trained at the doctoral level, and in the process of completing her doctoral dissertation at The Chicago School of Professional Psychology. At the core of her therapeutic values she believes that consciousness is power. Many clients seek therapy with hopes to better understand themselves and how they relate to others, or because patterns in their lives have become ineffective or dissatisfying. Every client is different, and she tailors her approach accordingly.

Jessica works with clients is to help them gain insight, to collaboratively help them make appropriate changes and get “unstuck” and to help them live a life filled with meaning. She is a psychodynamic practitioner and utilizes interpersonal and humanistic/existential treatment modalities to better understand your way of “being in the world,” with a goal to connect past experiences to current functioning. Jessica’s approach seeks to help clients get to the root of their challenges. She is skilled at not only helping clients to better understand their experiences but challenges them to translate that insight into meaningful change.

Jessica works with individuals who have experienced complex trauma, anxiety, depression, people who have difficulties in their views of themselves/with others. As part of the LGBTQ+ community she also works with clients who are part of the community. She believes that integrating intersectional cultural experience is a vital part of the clinical experience. Jessica has worked at several universities as a clinician and has experience working with adults and emerging adults.
